Three people were injured and between 15 and 20 were displaced following an apartment fire Saturday night in Kansas City, Kansas, according to officials.
Crews responded around 11 p.m. to the two-alarm fire at Rainbow Ridge Apartments at 3550 Rainbow Boulevard, according to the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department.
Firefighters rescued five people from balconies, and emergency medical crews took three people to a hospital. One person had severe burns and smoke inhalation, officials said.
The blaze was under control by 11:24, fire officials said.
“Rapid response and decisive actions by firefighters saved lives last night and prevented the fire from spreading to other apartments,” KCKFD wrote on Twitter on Sunday afternoon.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
